Music from Apple Ad Campaigns (including iPhone ads)

I worked on a movie project at work that required a parody of the current Mac ad campaign: “Get a Mac” (a.k.a. “Mac Vs. PC” or “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC.”) I couldn’t find it on the interweb, so I cracked open Garage Band and tried my luck.

Music for Apple’s “Get a Mac” Ad Campaign

I believe the song is “Having Trouble Sneezing” by Mark Mothersbaugh. The instruments aren’t exactly correct (I had to create my own marimba and “dainty” piano), but the melody and the shaker are spot on.

In college, my sketch comedy group, the Farce Side Comedy Hour, spoofed the original white-background ad campaign for Mac: “Switch”. Although not authored in Garage Band, this one is pretty close the original:

  • Dude, thanks so much for posting this. We are doing a parody spot at my office, and they wanted me to find the music or something close. I thought about getting into Garageband and making it myself, but I don’t have time to do it because they need it by tomorrow (the 23rd).

  • Saving these files should be as simple as control-clicking (on a Mac) or right-clicking (on a PC) and selecting something along the lines of “Save Link As…”.

    I’m a student at School and I have to make a video for the Jim Harbin contest for my TV Production class. I was wondering if I could use your music on said video ( we have to have permission from the original artist in order to use it or else it’s invalid ).

  • @CrispyCreme: I don’t have the original GarageBand file (or I can seem to find it). Importing the mp3 into GarageBand and chopping it up is probably your best option.
